Daude
Daude (pronounced Da-ooj) was hailed as the "Revelation of 1996" in Brazil, where she received the Sharp Prize at the annual music awards in Rio, and then began playing the summer festival circuit in Europe. This sensuously beautiful singer was born Maria Waldelur in the Bahia province in Northeastern Brazil. Her first musical loves were American soul, rock and funk, but she has added a good measure of Brazilian tradition to these North American influences. Brushing the cobwebs from some classic titles, she has made them into living creations. inventing a form of samba'n'funk, the best example of which is her latest CD, Daude, an invitation to dance and joy.
